Jason Atherton opens Café Biltmore

The Café Biltmore Restaurant & Terrace by Jason Atherton, located within hotel The Biltmore Mayfair, will launch on 21 April 2021 with a newly extended terrace.

The 70-cover terrace is surrounded by foliage covered walls, cushioned seats and has heaters for cooler weather.

Having opened fine dining restaurant The Betterment at The Biltmore Mayfair in 2019, which will re-open later this summer, Atherton has put together a more casual menu for the new café.

Dishes will include cured Loch Duart salmon with ponzu dressing, lime, coriander and chilli; Dorset crab on toast with confit lemon, natural yoghurt and sourdough; and steamed south coast mussels with arbequina olive oil.

Heartier dishes include buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with Churchill sauce in a brioche bun; and grilled Dover sole with capers, lemon and parsley and citrus hollandaise.

Homemade pasta, wood-fired pizzas and summery puddings will also appear on the menu.

After months at home, I wanted to create the opportunity for people to socialise once again, and the beautiful surroundings of The Biltmore Mayfair – with an outdoor terrace now almost double the size of its previous form – was the perfect place to realise this," comments Atherton.

"It offers escapism, but at the same time, a much-needed return to the familiar. I hope people will enjoy the relaxed café-style menu we have created for The Café Biltmore Restaurant & Terrace, whether it’s for a casual meet-up amongst friends or to celebrate a special birthday that was missed. We cannot wait to bring people back to Mayfair.”

The cocktail list includes The Biltmore Spritz with Amaro Mondino, Belsazar Dry, lime, rosemary water and tonic – an ode to English summer gardens, while Sebastián’s Sunset with Gin Mare, Pedro Ximenez, dry vermouth, bitters and tonic is inspired by northern Spain.
