Bar + Block opens first Scotland site

Whitbread’s steak brand Bar + Block is opening two new restaurants this month, its first in Scotland (Glasgow) and one in Milton Keynes, taking the portfolio to 17 sites.

The new sites will follow the steak house’s all-day trading format – serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week.

The menu puts the spotlight on high quality, 30-day aged steaks in a variety of cuts and sizes, hand-cut to order, at an accessible price point with the signature ‘Butcher’s Block’ offering limited -ime only rotating steak specials.

Also on the menu are fresh burgers ground on-site, salads, grills and grazing plates while an express menu, served in under 10 minutes, is available for £10 Monday to Friday.

Bar + Block also serves, an unlimited cooked breakfast (£8.99) and a kids’ menu featuring veggie sticks, main, dessert and a drink for £6.50. Drinks include craft beers and ciders, cocktails and wines.

The modern design in both restaurants is inspired by the theatre of food and drink, signature features include a central statement bar with copper detailing and a large open kitchen, complemented by reclaimed wood, high quality fabrics, comfy seating and warm lighting are signature features.

“We’re very excited to be back in business post a year full of restrictions and to be in the position to begin growing the Bar + Block brand again," says Rebecca Donaldson for Whitbread Restaurants.

"We are thrilled to be opening our first restaurant in Scotland and in Milton Keynes and are gearing up for a busy summer.”

Whitbread plans to open an additional Bar + Block restaurant in Edinburgh later this year.
