The Hush Collection reports positive trading

Twelve-strong London-based restaurant group The Hush Collection (THC) has reported positive financial results for the year ending 27 December 2020. The Collection – which includes Hush Mayfair, Cabana and Haché, led by Jamie Barber and Ed Standring – has also given a positive current trading update and revealed plans for expansion.

Period ending 27 December 2020

In a year marked by a significant Covid-driven slowdown from mid February, followed by the first national lockdown in March and the introduction of various tiered restrictions, THC reached a turnover of £8.42m, despite long periods of closure and trading restrictions, down just 20% on the previous year (2019: £10.57m).

A combination of tight controls, landlord negotiations and government support mitigated the Collection’s EBITDA loss to just £388,915 (2019: £645, 283).

2021 trading

Regardless of further lockdowns and restrictions, THC continued to trade well and beyond expecation throughout 2021.

Brand highlights from the last 12 months include the August opening of the first international franchised Cabana in Riyadh, with a second site in the pipeline. Further international expansion is planned for the Middle East in the coming years.

Additionally, THC prepared to launch the Little Planted Kitchen in time for Veganuary 2022, while all its London venues were able to reopen in line with government guidance and the group benefits from high employee retention rates, meaning restaurants remain well-staffed.

"It has been an incredibly challenging time for hospitality, but we are immensely proud of our performance," says Jamie Barber, chairman of THC.

"The business has shown agility and adaptability and these results are a testament to that as well as our loyal team. Our restaurants have traded well this year and beyond expectations. As such, we are well-placed to ride any additional pandemic headwinds."
