Second Berenjak site coming in spring

Berenjak, the Iranian restaurant concept from Kian Samyani and JKS Restaurants, will open a new site in Borough Market this spring.

The brand's first restaurant opened in Soho in 2018, bringing the flavours of Tehran's hole-in-the-wall kebab houses to London. The new venue will expand on the original Soho menu with a selection of homestyle Iranian dishes, alongside Berenjak's signature classics.

Menu highlights include charcoal-grilled kebabs, such as minced lamb koodibeh and poussin jujeh tond. Signature mazeh small plates will also be available, including black chickpea hummus, the Panir Sabzi (Persian feta with radish, fresh herbs and nuts), and the taftoon clay-baked sourdough seeded flatbread.

Dishes that are exclusive to the Borough Market venue will include family-style dishes cooked on a rotisserie grill, such as the rotisserie saffron chicken zereshk pollow. New starters will be added to the mazeh section, while a full menu of classic Iranian desserts will also be offered.

Capitalising on its new, busy location, the new Berenjak will provide a grab-and-go lunchbox special Tuesday–Thursday each week, with the restaurant working with traders and chefs in the community to source ingredients and on regular menu collaborations.

The site’s two floors of Victorian architecture will be transformed into a Persian townhouse in the centre of London. The first floor will cater for large groups, private dining, and events, like intimate Sunday cinema screenings and one-off ticketed dinners. It will also be used as a space for championing the work of British-Iranian artists and designers.
