Chotto Matte expansion leads to Marylebone Village

Soho favourite Chotto Matte has announced the opening of a new branch in Marylebone Village.

The new site follows the brand's launch in US cities such as San Francisco, Nashville and Los Angeles, highlighting the group's success, even amid the challenges of the pandemic.

On top of those US cities, the restaurant group's current estate includes the flagship site in Soho, alongside venues in Miami and Toronto.

Marylebone Village is one of London's most sought-after residential districts and shopping destinations. Compared to the hustle and bustle of downtown Soho, Chotto Matte Marylebone will offer a more relaxed dining destination while still presenting the same ethos and menu for which the brand is known.

Designed by award-winning firm Andy Martin Architecture, the new site will follow the brand's Japanese-Peruvian fusion style, adorned with natural lava stone while drawing inspiration from Tokyo's contemporary urban culture.

Chotto Matte's entertainment focus will be brought to the new location, allowing customers to enjoy immersive experiences and artistic activations.

The group's executive chef Jordan Sclare has designed the menu, which includes a number of dishes exclusively available at Marylebone. Sclare has played a key role in devising the brand's culinary identity, striving to push the boundaries of traditional Nikkei techniques – a process that pairs Peruvian ingredients with Japanese cooking methods.

The Marylebone menu will include new dishes such as fatty tuna (O-Toro) and robatayaki salmon, accented with European and South American nuances, including smoked jalapeño chilli, persimmon (sharon fruit) and truffle.

The opening of Marylebone also sees the launch of the highly anticipated new Tokyo to Lima cocktail menu. Diners will be the first to try the offering of 10 new drinks, set to be rolled out to all Chotto Matte restaurants globally. Inspired by the evolution of Nikkei cuisine and designed to complement the unique flavours of the dishes, the expertly curated collection guarantees to bring something fresh to the table.

On the opening, Chotto Matte founder Kurt Zdesar, comments: "We are delighted to continue our expansion plans for Chotto Matte. We cannot wait for the new phase of growth to allow more people to experience the very best of authentic, innovative Nikkei cuisine in stylish architectural spaces across the globe."
