Roti King opens second site

Malaysian restaurant concept Roti King has today (5 May) opened the doors of a brand-new venue.

The brand's second restaurant in the capital – and its first south London outpost – resides in Circus West Village, Battersea Power Station.

Roti King serves nostalgic Malaysian street food from the childhood of chef-owner Sugen Gopal, who says of the latest opening: "Roti King has made its way South of the river! We are so excited a new group of Londoners can experience the food I loved so much growing up, and that is becoming increasingly popular all over the capital."

The menu features the brand's most popular favourites, such as Roti Canai and Kari, Mee Goreng Mamak, Nasi Lemak, Laksa and Beef Rendang. A new addition to the Battersea site is the Vegan Roti – a labour of love that has taken Gopal 18 months to perfect.

South-east Asian beer by the bottle alongside canned wines make up the simple but carefully paired alcohol range. Takeaway and delivery, for the local catchment, will be on offer at Battersea and guests are encouraged to order and enjoy their food by the water during the summer months.

Unlike its Euston counterpart, covers at the Battersea site will be bookable in advance, ideal for special occasions and bigger groups. However, true to the original concept, there will always be tables kept aside for walk-ins to allow guests to drop in for a bite anytime.

Roti King joins over 20 cafés, bars, restaurants, shops, fitness and leisure venues, a cinema and theatre already open at the new exciting riverside neighbourhood at Battersea Power Station. These will be complemented by over 100 retail shops, restaurants and cafés, including a 20,000 sq ft food hall, unique office and event spaces, and 254 apartments once the Power Station opens its doors from September 2022.
