Third site confirmed for Casa do Frango
Casa do Frango, London's chicken piri-piri hotspot owned and operated by MJMK Restaurants, is launching a third branch in the capital in October.
The brand already has established sites in London Bridge and Shoreditch, with Heddon Street set to host its third central location – its flagship site and the largest to date.
Further London openings are already in the pipeline, with plans to launch in Victoria in early 2023.
Bringing Portuguese food and drink to 31–33 Heddon Street, the new Casa do Frango will encompass a street level terrace, an expansive dining room, a drinks bar (The Green Room) and two private dining rooms. Set over two floors, the venue will have capacity for over 200 guests.
The menu will mirror the brand's existing sites, celebrating Southern Portuguese cuisine. It centres on the Algarvian staple of frango piri-piri – half a chicken brushed with a secret piri-piri recipe that has been perfected over time, drawing on co-founder Marco Mendes' upbringing in the Algarve region.
True to the traditions of the Algarve, an open fire grill is stoked with wood charcoal, giving the food the unmistakable piri-piri char. Accompanying the signature frango piri-piri will be a selection of sides and sharing plates inspired by dishes around the country, including Iberico pork croquettes, bacalhau fritters, African rice, batatas fritas and montanheira salad.
From the bar, guests can expect white Port and tonic, Portuguese beer on draught and a selection of cocktails with a Portuguese twist. An all-Portuguese wine list also features Casa do Frango's own Vinho Verde, Boa Pingo – a wine created by the team in collaboration with Qunita de Santiago.
Mendes comments on the opening: "This is a special moment for MJMK and the Casa do Frango team as we bring our signature frango piri-piri to central London, with the opening of our largest site to date. There is so much untold in the story of southern Portuguese culture, which we are honoured to celebrate, and I am incredibly proud to bring the heritage, cuisine and hospitality of the Algarve, my home, to a new neighbourhood."
