Kricket to launch new café-bar concept in Shoreditch

Modern-Indian restaurant group Kricket is set to open a new London site in Shoreditch in March 2025.

Located at 36 Charlotte Road (formerly Merchants Tavern and since Apothecary East), the new venue marks an evolution for the brand as it looks to introduce its first-ever all-day café and bar concept alongside its signature restaurant experience.

Founded by Rik Campbell and Will Bowlby in 2015 as a pop-up in Pop Brixton, Kricket has expanded to include several permanent sites across London, along with the award-winning bar concept SOMA.

The new location will be housed in a restored Victorian dispensary, blending historic character with contemporary design by CAKE Architecture. The space will feature high ceilings, natural light, an open log fire and bespoke artwork curated by chef-patron Will Bowlby, reflecting both the brand’s identity and the creative arts scene in Shoreditch.

The site will include an 80-cover restaurant serving Kricket’s à la carte menu, as well as a 50-seat all-day café and bar offering breakfast, street food snacks and craft drinks. A private dining room will seat up to 18 guests, with the space also serving as a daytime workspace.

Open from 8am, Kricket’s first-ever café-bar and breakfast menu will debut at this location, with highlights including jaggery-glazed bacon chop, Andhra-spiced hash brown and tamarind brown sauce; a fresh take on Eggs Kejriwal; and a Bombay toastie (starting at £6), alongside a selection of Indian teas, coffee, chai and lassis.

The all-day menu will offer street food-inspired dishes like Kolhapuri bhel; mutton keema toasties; and prawn and cuttlefish koliwada paired with a variety of draught beers, a whisky selection and a curated wine list. Sundays will be reserved for the Murgh Musallam Sunday Lunch.
