New steakhouse opens in Birmingham
Steakhouse concept Cow & Sow has opened a third restaurant – its first outside of Bristol.
Located at One Chamberlain Square in Birmingham, the new restaurant offers steak sourced from farms in the south-west.
The menu features an array of prime-aged meat, from single cuts to sharing steaks from grass-fed cattle, alongside sides and small plates. Speciality steaks from the chophouse include flat iron, sirloin, ribeye and fillet, all 35-day aged.
As the name suggests, there are plenty of alternatives to steak, including the pulled pork burger and cider-braised pork belly, and a grilled smoky maple-glazed cauliflower steak or butternut squash Wellington for vegans.
Desserts such as the salty dark chocolate delice with mandarin gel for added freshness and tangerine crisps, salted caramel tart with honeycomb and vanilla ice cream, Affogato or burnt Basque cheesecake and caramelised pineapple, are also available.
The extensive wine list features Cow & Sow’s very own Malbec. Those who prefer cocktails can choose from Sow Punch with Aluna coconut rum, pineapple, orange, cranberry and the Cow and Sour, a mix of Amaretto, bourbon, lemon juice, syrup and cherry.
The team
With two original sites in Bristol, founder Mark Warburton was determined to open his third restaurant in Birmingham, and admits he jumped at the chance when he was offered the space at Paradise. “It’s been my dream to expand outside of Bristol and I’ve had Birmingham in my sights for a long time," he says.
“I’m thrilled to have opened in Paradise and can’t wait to showcase what we have to offer to the people of Birmingham. The city has a thriving dining scene but I’m confident that Cow & Sow will prove ourselves to be a cut above."
Heading up the Birmingham venue is general manager Jordan Stewart, who has previously worked at Birmingham’s Hotel Du Vin and several other prestigious venues.
“I’m incredibly proud to be heading up this exciting brand in Birmingham – it’s a fantastic opportunity for me," says Stewart. "We are in good company here in Paradise with several other great brands as our neighbours.”
