H2O Road Test: Serving Success with Comelle
We’re back at it in the Road Test kitchen, with Mollie's head chef Gemma Mills testing out Comelle’s Classic ice cream mix
The Road Test Kitchen is all about pushing innovative ingredients to their limits. Created by Dine Out’s parent company, H2O Publishing, the Road Test series provides suppliers with a unique opportunity to place their products directly into the hands of professionals. This platform allows chefs to experiment, explore and unlock the full potential of new ingredients in real-world kitchen settings.
Each instalment of the Road Test series spotlights a chosen participant who puts a specific ingredient through its paces. We then gather their insights and compile them into a concise, informative guide to help others make the most of the product. In the fast-moving hospitality industry, testing new products can often take a backseat to daily operations. That’s where we step in — to do the heavy lifting so chefs can focus on what truly matters: their teams and guests.
Our most recent test featured Mollie's head chef, Gemma Mills, putting Comelle’s ‘Best Ever Taste’ Classic ice cream mix to the test. “We put our ‘Best Ever Taste’ Classic Comelle ice cream mix through the Road Test because we wanted to showcase its exceptional, creamy texture and superior hold,” says Marion Candy, trade marketing and activation controller at Lakeland Dairies. “By partnering with Mollies, we aimed to highlight not just the outstanding quality of Comelle but also how it can enhance menus and boost profitability.”Consumer demand for high-quality, indulgent ice cream continues to rise, and Comelle’s ice cream mix is designed to meet this need with its balance of rich flavour and smooth texture. “Comelle provides an ice cream mix that ensures a premium experience, making it easier for businesses to serve top-tier soft-serve offerings,” Candy explains. “With profitability a key concern for many establishments, Comelle helps enhance menus while delivering a cost-effective and reliable solution.”
Soft-serve ice cream has seen a surge in popularity in recent years, thanks to its versatility and growing role in dessert menus. But to remain a profitable choice, it must offer operators tangible benefits. “While our Comelle ice cream mix has been carefully crafted to taste great, we’ve also focused on its technical properties,” Candy adds. “Our mix maintains excellent texture and slower melt properties, ensuring that soft-serve retains its shape and consistency for longer. This not only enhances the customer’s experience but also gives operators more time to decorate and finish desserts, elevating their visual appeal.”
