Banana Tree confirms first Welsh location

A Southeast Asian restaurant chain has announced the launch of its first-ever site in Wales.

Banana Tree, a brand owned and operated by The Big Table Group, will officially open a new branch on Mill Lane, Cardiff, on 2 June.

To celebrate the milestone, the restaurant will give away 2,000 free katsu curries or Pad Thais to visitors on opening day. Banana Tree's signature tuk tuk will also spread the word throughout the city on 5 and 6 June.

The venue will be the group's largest to date, seating 249 inside and an additional 38 outdoors. The concept is already known nationwide for its vibrant décor and menu that spans Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Banana Tree's marketing director, Tom Patrick, says of the upcoming launch: "We couldn't be more excited to open in Cardiff. It's our very first site in Wales and our biggest restaurant to date, right in the heart of one of the UK's most exciting food destinations.

"Whether you're joining us for a pre-night-out dinner, a chilled lunch or just to experience something new, we can't wait to welcome you to the Banana Tree family."
