Dante London launching in Islington

A new venue from chef duo Louis Korovilas and Taylor Sessegnon-Shakespeare is set to land in Islington on Friday, 1 August. 

The chefs previously worked together at Pied A Terre back in 2016. This was the first job for a young Sessegnon-Shakespeare out of university, with Korovilas coming armed with a strong background at the Michelin-starred Locanda Locatelli.

After a few years, they went their separate ways, before joining again at Bancone later down the line.

The restaurant

Dante London will be the pair's first independent venture, showcasing a refined European menu rooted in French and Italian culinary traditions.

The duo will take up residency in the kitchen every weekend, serving a tasting-style offering to guests in the 27-cover restaurant from Friday dinner to Sunday lunch at the Islington Arts Club.

The weekly rotating menu will feature seasonal dishes such as broadbean orzotto with glazed chicken wing, aubergine scarpece with clam bagna cauda and crispy palourde clams, beef carpaccio with oyster mayonnaise and baby artichokes and seasonal financiers for dessert.

Korovilas comments: "At the moment, the London dining scene is quite formulaic due to the financial climate. Restaurants are taking less exciting risks and you can see a lot of similarities in many restaurant menus. We’re trying to break away from this without current trends on our menu and how we cook."
