Pizza Pilgrims opens in Manchester
Pizza Pilgrims has landed in Manchester, with doors officially opening to guests on 18 August.
Located in the heart of the city centre at 105–107 Deansgate, the new pizzeria features 140 covers across a ground floor, a mezzanine dining space and a blue ‘Fiat Panda Pop’ bar. A portrait of Maradona, created by world-famous Manchester-born artist and illustrator Stan Chow, will adorn the restaurant’s walls.
After taking a special trip to Naples with the Pizza Pilgrims team, Chow has also immortalised the Neapolitan food partners that make up the ‘holy trinity’ of the Pizza Pilgrims experience – Giovanni Amodio from Latteria Sorrentina, Antimo Caputo from Caputo Flour Mill and Giuseppe Napoletano of Solania, supplier of San Mazono D.O.P. Tomatoes. The portraits will be displayed in the top-floor masterclass kitchen, which will also host the Dough It Yourself experience.
Summer slices
Launching with Pizza Pilgrims' brand-new summer menu, alongside seasoned classics, Manchester diners can expect dishes that spotlight the ingredients of Napoli.
The Amalfi Coast pizza features Cetaran DOP anchovies, Piennolo tomatoes, Fior di Latte mozzarella, olives, capers and basil; the Principessa pizza will be stacked with Prosciutto di Parma DOP, Piennolo di Vesuvio DOP tomatoes, 24-month Parmigiano-Reggiano DOP, Mozzarella di Bufala DOP and extra virgin olive oil; while the Burrata & Pesto pizza delivers creamy Puglian burrata, Genovese basil pesto and sweet Piennolo tomatoes.
Josh Rogers, general manager of the Manchester restaurant, comments: "We've got a fantastic team here in Manchester and everyone is super excited to open the doors. We can't wait to give guests a true taste of Napoli – from the most authentic ingredients sourced straight from Italy, to the Panda Pop Bar which we've made from a salvaged Fiat Panda ... It's great Neapolitan vibes all the way and we're ready to roll!"
