Two-day BBQ takeover coming to The Standard
The Standard, London, is preparing to welcome Nathaniel Mortley, aka Natty Can Cook, for a two-day BBQ takeover on the terrace of its ground-floor restaurant, Double Standard.
Taking place on 27 and 28 September, the weekend celebration will see Mortley bring his boundary-pushing approach to Caribbean cuisine to the King's Cross terrace. Mortley grew up in Peckham and honed his culinary skills with the cooking charity, Clink. He has since gained a loyal fanbase through his ongoing residency at the Peckham pub, The Greyhound.
The takeover
Natty Can Cook's Double Standard takeover menu is designed for sharing, feasting and celebrating. Highlights will include Mortley's Jerk Chicken Buns, Grilled Lobster Tail with Coconut Rice, a Vegan BBQ 'Ital' Plate, Rumshop Shortrib and Guinness Soft Serve Ice Cream.
To complement the menu, music programming will run across both days to create an immersive atmosphere. The Standard has also partnered with Eminente Rum on an exclusive cocktail list, with serves including Mai Tais, Daiquiris and Old Cubans.
"The idea is to take Caribbean food beyond its usual perception and show how refined, playful and exciting it can be," says Mortley. "This BBQ takeover is a chance to share that energy and flavour with Londoners in one of the city's most iconic hotels."
