Transformed Zizzi Winchester reopens

Following an extensive refurbishment, Zizzi Winchester has officially reopened, with the revamped interior featuring original artwork inspired by the city.

Located on the high street, Zizzi Winchester's new mural was designed and painted by Ola Intu, who specialises in creating vivid, colourful scenes. In a nod to Zizzi's influences, the artwork combines both local and Italian history, including the wine-making traditions of both Hampshire and Tuscany.

The walls are adorned with illustrations of wine bottles, grapes and vine leaves as well as Dionysus and Bacchus, the Greek and Roman gods of wine and festivities.

Local legend William Walker, famous for saving Winchester Cathedral over a century ago by diving into watery pits and installing 900,000 bricks to prop up the sinking monument, is also brought to life in the mural.

A Winchester welcome

Now with room for 180 guests, Zizzi Winchester offers a warm welcome with a freshly decorated entrance, plus two interior dining areas adorned with two realistic yellow trees.

The menu includes dishes such as the Diavoletta Bombe, a spicy take on Zizzi's garlic bombe, filled with Alla Vodka sauce, roquito chillies and mozzarella; and King Prawn Vongole, a fresh Mafaldine pasta dish with king prawns and clams in a wild garlic, lemon, caper and parsley butter sauce.

For dessert, diners can choose the Dragon Fruit & Wild Strawberry Sundae, a combination of dragon fruit sorbet, panna cotta and wild strawberry gelato, topped with pink meringue; or the Caramello Sundae, which combines salted caramel and vanilla gelato with honeycomb cheesecake, caramel sauce and a stroopwafel.

Zizzi Winchester's general manager Ksenya comments: "We can't wait to welcome guests into the restaurant to show off our new look. We hope locals and visitors for Winchester will love the brand new artwork and cosy dining area as much as we do."
