The Karali Group acquires Côte
Côte Restaurant Group has been sold to The Karali Group, led by Salim Janmohamed OBE and Karim Janmohamed.
The Karali Group also bought premium doughnut and coffee chain Crosstown in 2024, and stands as the UK's largest Taco Bell franchisee, while operating other fast-casual concepts including El Taco Loco, Dirty Dog Shack, Roosters and Sticky Sisters. While the business is involved with Burger King through some US licenses, it sold its large UK Burger King portfolio in 2022.
Earlier this year, Karali announced a major master franchise agreement with Marugame Udon, a move that will accelerate the brand’s growth across the UK and Ireland.
Côte will now be led by the senior leadership team at the multinational, family-owned Karali Group, who possess experience in both the consumer and real estate sectors, as well as hospitality.
'Exciting plans for the future'
"I am proud to have led the brilliant Côte team to a sale that is a huge positive for all involved," says Emma Dinnis, CEO of Côte.
"The sector continues to face challenges, but with the strength of our people and a clear vision, I'm confident we'll ensure Côte remains everyone's favourite brasserie. With a delicious new menu amplifying what we do best and exciting plans for the future, we will continue to transform and grow this brand."
The Janmohameds add: "We have long admired the much-loved Côte Brasserie and are thrilled to welcome this fantastic brand into our growing portfolio. We are looking forward to working with both management and the broader team on the exciting plans for the brand and welcome them all individually to the Karali family."
