Peak Edge Hotel reports strong year of growth

Peak Edge, a four-star, family-owned countryside retreat set on the edge of the Peak District, has reported strong year-on-year growth across the business.

Between 1 October 2024 and 31 July 2025, the hotel recorded +15% net revenue in beverages at The Red Lion Bar Restaurant & Bar, +9% net revenue in food, +26% venue-hire revenue (weddings and events) and +9.4% accommodation net revenue.

Demand remains robust and the hotel continues to invest in the guest experience. As with the wider sector, however, translating record revenue into profit is challenging due to higher operating and food input costs, increased employer National Insurance contributions and recent threshold changes, as well as energy and supplier inflation.

'Guests still want to spend'

Mark Thurman, managing director at Peak Edge Hotel, says of the results: "The wider UK hospitality sector has faced real pressures over the past year, from rising costs to softer consumer spending.

"These results show that when you focus on authenticity, provenance and personal service, guests still want to spend. Our setting on the edge of the Peak District, our farm-to-fork dining and the care our team puts into every experience are clearly resonating. Revenue is growing across rooms, restaurants and events, yet higher operating costs mean growth does not automatically translate into profit, so we are being rigorous about value and efficiency."
