Thesleff Group to launch Sale e Pepe at The Langham
Hospitality operator Thesleff Group has announced the launch of Sale e Pepe Mare, a new dining concept inspired by Italian coastal dining, set within iconic London Hotel, The Langham.
The news marks a new chapter for the legacy of Sale e Pepe, the Knightsbridge restaurant that has promoted Italian dining in the capital since 1974.
Sale e Pepe at The Langham
From November, Sale e Pepe Mare will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner at The Langham. The menu will have a seafood focus, blending classic favourites with a fresh, modern edge.
Sale e Pepe classics such as Linguine All'Aragosta (lobster linguine with Datterino tomatoes and basil), Branzino al Sale (salt-baked whole sea bass) and Linguine Vongole e Bottarga (fresh clams linguine with Bottarga, garlic and parsley) will sit alongside new creations including Torro Grasso (fatty bluefin tuna on baked brioche with confit tomato and garlic), Gambero Rosso (Mazzara del Vallo red prawn battuta with pink peppercorn and lemon verbena), Spigola Crudo (sea bass sashimi wth trout roe, espelette pepper and yuzu soy), Tagliarini Grancho (tagliarino with Dorset crab, Calabrian anchovies, parsley and olive oil) and a showstopping shellfish tower.
A central seafood display will showcase the daily catch, from oysters and langoustines to raw preparations that celebrate the flavours of the Mediterranean. The kitchen will also feature a Josper Grill, bringing a rich, smoky depth of flavour to whole turbot, clams and prime cuts of steak.
Adding extra theatre to the occasion, Sale e Pepe Mare will feature tableside Caesar Salad, Bucatini Cacio e Pepe and Risotto ai Funghi Porcini preparation. It will also feature a dessert trolley, where dishes including the brand's signature tiramisu will be served.
The drinks programme will focus on wines from renowned winemakers, while a Champagne and Negroni trolley will bring yet another dose of theatre. The cocktail menu will blend 1950s nostalgia with premium ingredients, featuring classics like the Dirty Martini and the Muddled Old Fashioned.
In terms of design, the venue will be adorned with wood panelling, plush Italian fabrics, a marble bar and bespoke textured artwork. The 5,000 sq ft restaurant will seat 130 guests and include a private dining room for up to 22. The main dining room will house a walk-in wine room with a striking display cabinet and a 16-ft floor-to-ceiling bar.
Stefan Soennichsen, managing director at The Langham, comments: "We're delighted to welcome Sale e Pepe Mare by The Thesleff Group to The Langham, London. Just as our hotel blends English tradition with modern hospitality, the restaurant brings a contemporary flair to classic Italian roots. It promises to be a fantastic addition to our culinary offering, and we're confident it will prove hugely popular with our hotel guests and London diners alike."
