Loungers acquires new site in Ludlow

The George pub on Castle Square in Ludlow, Shropshire, has been acquired by Loungers.

Loungers says it plans to reopen The George under its Lounge brand, which focuses on creating community-driven café-bars offering a ‘home from home’ experience. Set to open on 28 January 2026, the new venue will be known as Pietro Lounge.

Following that, Deco Lounge will open in Liverpool on 4 February, adding to the 300+ sites run by the Loungers business.

Alongside Lounge, Loungers operates Cosy Club and roadside diner brand Brightside.

"The George sits in an absolute prime location in the town centre, overlooking both the market square and providing return frontage onto the main town car park," says Hux Norman, senior acquisitions manager at Loungers. "It benefits from an extensive external dining terrace with a south westerly orientation, allowing for all day sunlit dining.

"We have wanted to find a site in Ludlow for 10 years or so, but had yet to find that perfect mix of historic building, pitch and operational capability. We believe that this building ticks all those boxes."

The sale was overseen by property adviser Christie & Co.
