Young Restaurant Team of the Year revealed

North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College has been crowned UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year 2026.

The award was presented at the final evening of this year's Skills for Chefs conference, which took place at The Sheffield College.

Students Ruby Butcher, Alfie Thorp and Caitlin Mann took home the prestigious title, following a day of intense tasks for both front- and back-of-house, all overseen by a panel of industry judges.

The award was presented by Rupert Rowley, chair of Judges, and David McKown MBE, director of the competition, following a closely contested final.

As champions, North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College will enjoy a gastronomic study trip to Sweden to experience the country’s renowned food culture.

"The standard across all teams was fantastic," says Rowley.

The competition is supported by the Savoy Educational Trust, helping to inspire and develop the next generation of hospitality professionals. For more information, visit restaurantcompetition.co.uk.

Skills for Chefs also saw guest speakers including The Ritz's John Williams MBE, as well as Will Murray and Jack Croft from Fallow.
