MAD Restaurants promotes Jameson to exec chef
Robbie Jameson has been promoted to executive chef of the MAD Restaurant Group, the business behind London restaurants ALTA and MOI.
Following his appointment as head chef of Northern Spanish-inspired ALTA in the spring, Jameson will continue to oversee the ALTA kitchen in Kingly Court, while also taking the reins at MOI in Wardour Street, working alongside MOI head chef Gustavo Tavares and head sushi chef Lubo Haponik.
"With Robbie Jameson shaping the menu, expect MOI's food and atmosphere to move closer towards Japanese izakaya culture," says MAD founder Artem Login. "A style of dining centred around relaxed drinking, sharing and socialising. The philosophy of MOI hasn’t changed; the cooking remains rooted in open-fire whilst drawing on Japanese influences and techniques."
Room 86, a new chapter for The Listening Room
MAD Restaurants has also announced that MOI’s in-house cocktail and hi-fi bar formerly known as The Listening Room has been reimagined and renamed as Room 86.
The business says guests can still expect an intimate, music-led destination with cocktails, sake and wine at its core, but the space is going through evolution of its DJ programming.
Room 86, accessible via its own dedicated entrance on Wardour Street or directly through the restaurant, is designed around five distinct nights each with its own musical identity.
"Room 86 is about creating a unique place in Soho for creative people to meet, listen to great music and be part of the community," adds Login. "It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from. We want to create the kind of night you’ll still be talking about the next morning. It’s not just about where you go. It’s about how a place makes you feel, the people you meet and the memories you take with you."
