Rick Stein fishmonger recognised by Master Fishmonger Standard

A fishmonger at an acclaimed seafood-focused restaurant group has been recognised with a national qualification from the Master Fishmonger Standard

Amy Pender of Rick Stein Restaurants has qualified as the Youngest Female Advanced Fishmonger in the UK at the age of 21.

Pender is part of a small team that oversees the group's fresh fish counter and is highly trained at selecting, handling, gutting, boning, filleting and creating visually appealing displays to drive sales. She also oversees the seafood bar at the same site in Padstow, preparing shellfish platters and giving guests the full Rick Stein experience.

Having worked for the business for almost three years, Pender is honing her craft under the guidance of seasoned seafood industry professionals. 

"Becoming a fishmonger is the best thing I've ever done," says Pender. "While being a fishmonger is often considered a male role in the industry, being female and achieving such high qualifications is a dream come true. I'm proud to say I'm the youngest female advanced fishmonger in the country and I'd like to thank the team at Rick Stein for their ongoing support. On a sunny day, nothing beats catching your own!"
