Gloucester Food Dock recruits new manager

Lucie Wardingley has been appointed as the manager of Gloucester Food Dock – a £3.5m development that is preparing for opening this summer.

Wardingley has gained a wealth of experience from Gloucestershire's food and hospitality industry, having worked in some of the region's most well-known pubs and restaurants. She also ran her own event catering businesses Canape to Cake and the 'Box Fresh' street food trailer.

"Food is definitely where my heart is so I'm delighted to be joining the team at such an exciting time," says Wardingley. "Gloucester Food Dock will not only offer an eclectic mix of some of the best independent food businesses in the region, but it will also provide a platform and a step up for those small atrisan operators ready to make a move to the next level.

"Having run my own food businesses, I understand the needs and requirements of smaller operators – and the many demands placed on them," she adds. "I'm now looking forward to working with our members to create and deliver some amazing food as well as a real sense of community at Gloucester Food Dock. It's really important to me that we now share these wonderful hidden talents."

The venue itselt has been described as a new neighbourhood for the city; a destination offering a mix of diverse and independently produced food including everything from coffee and brunch to lunch and dinner.

The development will house up to 15 independent food and drink businesses drawn from across the county and surrounding regions. Its waterfront location, overlooking Victoria Basin at the bottom of Southgate Street, extends and refurbishes two 19th century brick buildings, and will incorporate external dining terraces and standalone wooden-clad units to create a range of premises of different sizes and configurations.
