Pizza Pilgrims to open new North London branch

Pizza Pilgrims will open its latest pizzeria in North London's Finsbury Park on 20 September.

The venue will take over the site previously held by the Slice pop-up concept which first opened last summer. The opening will stand as the brand's first outpost in that area of the capital – something the team plan to celebrate by giving away 1,000 free pizza slices between 12pm and 5pm on Thursday 15 September.

The new branch will serve Pizza Pilgrims' favourites, including puttanesca – tomatoes with anchovies, olives, capers and chilli, topped with mozzarella and basil; salsiccia e friarielli with roasted Italian sausage and wild broccoletti on an olive oil base with smoked mozzarella and fresh chilli; and mushroom and truffle – a truffle ricotta base loaded with chestnut mushrooms, fior di latte mozzarella and Grana Padano, finished with white truffle oil from Alba. Vegan cheese alternatives are available using Pizza Pilgrims' own housemade 'notzarella'.

Diners will also be able to play classic '80s arcade games such as Pac-Man and Street Fighter, while also enjoying a drinks offering of housemade ice teas, sodas and cocktails, as well as an extensive beer and wine list.

Thom and James Elliot, founders of the concept, comment: "As a company, we always want to try new things. When we saw this space in Finsbury Park we instantly fell in love with it; it had that great New York slice joint feel. Sadly that idea wasn't quite right for this location but we still loved the space and the vibe of the area. We are excited to be bringing a more classic Pilgrims Neapolitan pizzeria to Finsbury Park, along with a few twists. See you there!"
