Eataly confirms London opening early next year

Italian food market and restaurant operator Eataly has confirmed it will open the doors to its first UK location in Broadgate, London, early next year.

Eataly London will be spread across two floors (more than 40,000sq ft), is expected to create 300 jobs, and will house three restaurants as well as a market showcasing more than 5,000 Italian products.

Fine dining restaurant Terra will open next summer.

London has been a key target in our global expansion plans for some time now and we’re happy to be bringing our vision and a love of high-quality food to the UK," says Eataly CEO Nicola Farinetti.

"Eataly is all about taking the Italian gastronomic culture abroad, making it accessible to all in a celebration of the craft, taste and traditions of Italian food and drink.

"Bringing people together is at the heart of what we do and this is even more important in the current climate.”

Eataly will also host London’s largest Italian winery, a food-to-go area and a zero-waste produce refill store.

Situated at Broadgate, next to Liverpool Street Station and on the edge of Shoreditch, the venue will also be home to Eataly’s cookery school.

Chefs and food experts will provide in-house and online classes in everything from creating regional specialties to wine tasting, and Italian cooking for kids.

Eataly London will be store number 43 in the operator's portfolio, and marks the 16th country to open a site.
