Londoners most excited to return to Covent Garden

Covent Garden is the destination Londoners are most excited to return to when the hospitality sector reopens next week, with more than a third of residents putting the district at the top of their list, according to new research.

The findings, which were conducted for Addison Lee's new 'ALmost There' campaign, also revealed that 58% of people in the city are looking forward to visiting a restaurant again.

Other London districts that topped the list include Camden, Soho, Leicester Square and the West End.

Thirty-eight percent of respondents to the research said they are also looking forward to a group picnic, which could be a key opportunity for restaurant businesses offering click-and-collect and delivery services.

Many Londoners (28%) are also missing fast food on the way home after a night out.

Over a quarter (26%) of people miss the crowds of tourists in central London, while one in five long for greasy, fried breakfasts in cafés or visiting busy pubs (21%).

Despite confidence that London will recover, 67% of respondents will be more cautious when returning to the centre of town

“After a year where much of the city has been closed, our research shows that Londoners are nostalgic for all sorts of quintessentially London experiences and want to get out and support the capital and enjoy everything it has to offer," says Wesley Bishop, Addison Lee’s chief commercial officer.
