Wagamama launches cook at home range

Pan-Asian restaurant Wagamama has announced the launch of a new cook at home range, with all profits to be donated to its charity partner YoungMinds.

The launch sees some of Wagamama’s classic dishes hit supermarket shelves for the first time, including: three meal kits (katsu curry, pad thai, chicken ramen); three stir fry sauces (teriyaki, firecracker and pad thai); and two curry pastes (katsu and raisukaree).

Each of these come with a simple, easy-to-follow recipe along with ‘hacks’ for customers on how to personalise them to threir own taste.

The new range was inspired by the consumer response to the group's virtual cooking series Wok From Home, which was hosted by Wagamama’s global executive chef, Steve Mangelshot.

The show launched on social media in April 2020 just after the start of the first UK lockdown, which saw more than 10m Wagamama fans cooking katsu curry and other dishes from home.

"After seeing so many of our guests benefit from cooking along with Steve during the lockdown, we were inspired," says Wagamama's CEO Thomas Heier.

"We wanted to make it easier for our guests to enjoy the mental and physical benefits of cooking, long after lockdown. We hope our new range will help more people to do just that.

"Over the last year, we’ve worked closely with YoungMinds to support the important work that they do to make a positive difference to young people’s mental health and we will be donating 100% of Wagamama’s profits for the first twelve months to YoungMinds.”

The meal kits, pastes and sauces will be available at Waitrose from 7 June  and will be followed by Morrisons (8 June), Sainsbury’s (16 June), Tesco (29 June) and Ocado (5 July).
