5 award-winning burgers you have to try

The 11th annual National Burger Awards takes place tomorrow (11 February), with 16 of the UK's elite burger businesses set to face off in the highly anticipated 2025 competition.

To get in the mood for the live cooking showdown, take a look back at some of the boss burger brands that have claimed the coveted title in previous years... 

Bleecker Burger

Last year’s National Burger Awards winner Bleecker claimed the crown with its Bacon Double Cheeseburger. Starting from a humble food truck in 2012, Bleecker has built a name for itself, earning two wins at the National Burger Awards in 2024 and 2020. Bleecker’s six restaurants can be found across London, including Victoria, Spitalfields and London Bridge.

The Beefy Boys

Making their National Burger Awards debut in 2023, The Beefy Boys stole the show with the Oklahoma Onion Boy Burger — a mouthwatering combo of smashed patties, melted cheese and caramelized onions. Since then, The Beefy Boys have gone on to win fourth place at the World Food Championships 2024. The Beefy Boys can be found in Hereford, Shrewsbury and Cheltenham.

Danny's Burgers

This Bristol-based burger joint took home the National Burger Awards crown in 2022 with its signature creation, the Beef Chucky 2.0. While this legendary burger isn’t on the menu anymore, the rotating weekly specials are certainly worth a try – you can check them out at Fierce and Noble in Bristol.

El Perro Negro

This Scotland-based brand took home the National Burger Awards crown in 2019 and 2021. El Perro Negro’s Top Dog Burger — stacked with double bacon, bone marrow butter and black truffle mayo — has certainly earned its place among the UK's best. El Perro Negro's burgers can be found in Edinburgh’s Bonnie & Wild and Woodlands, Glasgow.

Whole Beast

For the 10th anniversary of the National Burger Awards last year, a special Champion of Champions showdown brought together the competition's former winners. Whole Beast pipped Bristol's Fattso and El Perro Negro to the post with the Aged Cheeseburger, securing its reputation as the nation's burger champion.
