Team behind The Oystermen invest in second restaurant

The restaurant, named after Walter Hathaway – a local master milliner, costumer and the original owner of the Park Hall road address – Walter's will serve lunch and dinner throughout the week from January 2022.

Head chef Khalid Hassan (formerly of Social Eating House, L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon and Murano) has created menu of British-inspired classics, producing hearty dishes made from native produce. Guests can start by tucking into a range of snacks, which include trout skin with a cod roe dip and truffle arancini.

The selection of starters and small plates feature a Bloody Mary crab salad; apricot and harissa glazed lamb belly; and Jerusalem artichoke orzo risotto.

Mains at Walter's showcase the best meat, fish and vegetables through dishes such as roasted venison loin and parsnip, and roasted hake with romesco sauce, spiced cabbage and slow-cooked duck egg.

Visitors will have a choice of classic favourites for dessert, including a cheese course of stilton, beetroot and port or a chocolate delice with brown butter ice cream.

The 50-cover venue will also a feature an antique bar with an extensive wine and cocktail list, with a focus on sparkling wines, high-quality grower champagnes and whiskies from around the world.

On the opening, Hamton and Lovell comment: "We have had such a journey since opening The Oystermen, our first bricks and mortar site, just over four years ago. Walter's feels like a very natural next step for us, we are moving down south, to a neighbourhood we know and love. We can't wait to create a spot for people to relax and enjoy great food at any time of day."
