Fifth venue coming for Pizza Punks

San Franciscan sourdough pizza specialist Pizza Punks has announced the planned opening for a new branch in Leicester in March.

The new venue will join the brand's existing sites in Glasgow, Belfast, Newcastle and Leeds.

At the heart of the menu will be Pizza Punks' handcrafted dough, proofed for 48-hours and finished with San Marzano tomato, basil and garlic sauce and mozzarella, before house toppings are added. Pizzas are then cooked in wood-fired ovens to achieve a thin, crisp base with a thick, chewy crust.

Pizza Punks guests can create their own dish, with unlimited choice from 35 toppings, offered for one flat fee. At the new Leicester branch, Halal, vegan, gluten-free and vegetarian options will also be available. Additionally, the site will offer fresh pasta, handmade in the restaurant every day. Guests can then 'punk up' their pasta with a choice of sauces and Italian ingredients – including 'Nduja, Tuscan sausage and salt and chilli chicken.

Customers can also enjoy craft beers and in-house cocktails, such as Drumstick Caiprisma with vanilla-infused rum, raspberry rum and fresh lime juice, served with a retro drumstick; Smoked Popcorn Daiquiri with charred sweetcorn-infused rum, sweetcorn syrup, fresh lime juice and vanilla smoke; and By Punks for Punks with spiced rum, pineapple juice, fresh lime juice, almond syrup and Buckfast, served with salted popcorn.

The 120-cover restaurant will be adorned with neon lights, artwork, monochrome brick tiles and a stripped-back aesthetic.

"Pizza Punks Leicester will be our fifth site in the UK and we can't wait to share the Pizza Punks experience with the city," says the brand's founder, Brad Stevens.

"At Pizza Punks we do things differently and our customers have the freedom to make the experience their own – they can punk up their pizza or pasta with unlimited toppings for no extra charge. We want families and friends to visit and have the best time."
