Nigerian food operator signs to Festival Place

Nigerian dining concept Afrizi is the latest operator to sign up for a new space at Basingstoke's Festival Place.

The independent restaurant, exclusively based within the venue, has signed a five-year lease on 1,900sq ft. On top of an extensive menu offering, Afrizi will use compostable containers and bamboo cutlery for takeaway orders, while its interior design is made exclusively of upcycled materials.

Afrizi's opening follows the recent launch of Brewdog and Five Guys, indicative of Festival Place's strategic leasing policy, with a new emphasis on food and beverage (F&B) provision to complement the traditional retail offer.

With more than 20 new leases/lease renewals agreed in the last 18 months, Festival Place (Basingstoke) is showcasing continued resilience in the fallout of the pandemic. Last month, the venue's F&B providers performed well, with fast food reporting an uplift in revenue of 25.5% vs 2019.
