Seoul Bird announces celeb collaborations

Seoul Bird has announced a series of celebrity burger collaborations that will take place throughout the year, as part of a partnership with charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).

The project invites celebrities to put their spin on Seoul Bird's signature chicken burger to create a line-up of exclusive specials, with proceeds from each burger donated to CALM.

The celebs will draw inspiration from their favourite mood-boosting foods and cultural heritage to design an exclusive burger for Seoul Bird diners. From July, the brand will offer presenter of Big Zuu's Big Eats, Zuhair Hassan's Big Zuu's Salone Sandwich – a recipe that incorporates flavours from his Sierra Leone background. The burger will use Seoul Bird's crispy fried chicken, dressed in West African sauce made from a blend of ginger, garlic, tomato and traditional African Maggi seasoning. The special is then finished with sweet fried plantains, crunchy lettuce and a tangy lime Kewpie mayonnaise.

Rapper Lady Leshurr's Island Bap will be available from September. Leshurr's burger features BBQ jerk chicken thighs topped with a corn fritter, fresh mango and papaya slaw, finished with her favourite fiery scotch bonnet mayonnaise.

November will bring comedian and writer Phil Wang's creation to the chain. Taking inspiration from his Malaysian childhood, Wang's fried chicken burger, The Wang Bang, will be dressed in Sambal Belacan, a vibrant blend of chillies, spices and dried shrimp, finished with Malaysian-style acar pickles to add a sweet and sour crunch.

Judy Joo, Korean-American Londoner and Seoul Bird founder, comments: "The work CALM does is so important and we are proud to be supporting such a worthwhile cause. By partnering with these brilliant personalities who are known for their entertainment, laughter and love of food, we hope to raise awareness around mental health and help those in need.

"Food plays such a huge role in mental health; it can bring people together, make you feel less alone and give you a taste of home. We hope we can spread some joy and happiness, one bite at a time, through these international burgers."
